For those of you, like me, unable to attend the June 14 Sudbury Sports Hall of Fame Dinner…good news. In a first for that organization, the night’s festivities will be live-cast over the Internet. Join in and watch as Capreol’s fastball powerhouse, the Mazzucas, get recognized for their long dominance on the diamond.
Be prepared for speeches. Every inductee is allowed five minutes at the podium. Jimmy Cappadocia, who played 3rd base for the Mazzucas and has long been a fixture behind the scenes in Capreol athletics, will be doing the talking for our town’s team. His passion for sports, especially fastball, knows no limit and he will, assuredly, do us all proud.
Speaking of town pride, several other names going into the HoF this year have Capreol connections too. I expect Terry Crisp, who has a hockey-bag’s worth of anecdotes and has spent the last decade on TV as the voice of the Nashville Predators, to regale the audience with hockey stories. Truth be told, I’d tune in just to hear his speech even if he wasn’t from Capreol.
