Capreol saw a lot of smiling—not to mention sticky—faces this past Sunday as the town’s Cross Country Ski Club held their annual Strawberry Shortcake fundraiser. A hungry and excited crowd was lined up before the doors even opened and, as per usual, the delicious treats sold out in a hurry. Not even the threat of bad weather could scare residents off!
The Ski Club’s facebook page reported: “Luckily the storm was cleaned up in time for a great fundraising event for the local food bank. The strawberry shortcake was a hit and we sold out. Thank you to the many volunteers who help set up, served up the tasty cake and were on clean up duty. A special thank you to Carol from M&R Grill for her support and supplying the strawberries and cream free of charge. We have a great community that supported this event, made generous donations and as usual made us PROUD. A cheque will be presented to the Bread and Roses food bank at our pancake breakfast in February.”
For those of you who missed out on this great event…mark your calendars for next year! And remember the cardinal rule for Capreol and sugary snacks—arrive early!Posted on: January 20, 2020, by : Willow22
